My design for Simba's son Tanabi 
My theory is that he and Kopa were born in the same litter and Tanabi was the first born; therefore the future king. However Tanabi inherited a few of Scar's traits through Simba with regards to nose shape, eye colour and some anatomy and Simba was rather horrified by this. He knew that none of his pride would accept Tanabi as their leader such a short time after Scar's reign and so he told the pride that Kopa was the first born (he was practically Simba's double - a worthy heir). Nala of course wasn't happy about this but she kept quiet for the pride's sake. Understandably, Tanabi was shunned for his similarities to Scar and spent more and more time away from the Pride where he met Nuka. Kopa got roped in with the Outsiders too when he befriended Kovu and Simba was furious. Kopa was scolded everytime he's been with the Outsiders however Tanabi's punishment was over-looked (Simba blamed it on Scar's genes and gave Tanabi up as a lost cause). This led to the Princes's confusion as to why one was punished and not the other. They asked their friends in the outlands if they could figure out why and again came up with nothing. It was then that the two brothers turned to Nala to tell them the truth which she did with a heavy heart. Tanabi and Kopa were appalled and left to join the Ousiders where Simba confronted them and said he wouldn't fight his own blood. And so Kopa and Tanabi left the Pridelands and Outlands to become rogues.
They return when Zira is defeated and the two Prides unite.

Unless you say otherwise, I highly doubt Tanabi forgave his father and the other Pridelanders for how they treated him
